Sardinia: Padre Padrone's atmosphere
Many cultures have had their influence in Sardinia. The influence of these cultures has however been much less dominant here than in Sicily. But like Sicilians, the Saridinians are very proud of their island and their descent. They are proud of their fabulous Sardinian food and many traditions are still very much alive. There are festivals during nearly every week of the year! Sardinia has magnificent sandy beaches and an agreeable climate. The rocky coastline is excellent for diving as well. Further inland you will discover the most genuine, unspoiled part of Sardinia. 'Nuraghe' can be seen here too, strange structures of unknown origin and function. The airport at Alghero is usually the most convenient for international travellers. The ferries from the Italian mainland dock at Olbia.

North Sardinia
In Sardinia's northern region you will find the splendid beaches of the Costa Smeralda, the Costa Paradiso and the Coral Riviera. The region's capital, Alghero, has a few Catalan features and is a vibrant town. The picturesque towns of Santa Teresa Gallura and Bosa are also of historical importance. The town of Nuoro, situated in spectacular scenery, is on the edge of the Gennargentu mountains, one of Europe's most beautiful, remote and unspoiled mountain ranges.

South Sardinia
In Sardinia's southern area we have properties on offer in the splendid Sinis-area, west of Oristano. Oristano is famous for its mystical 'carnevale' celebrations, known as Sartiglia, in which horses and their riders play a major role. The food is just fabulous and the region has a wonderful coastal area. On the Sinis peninsula you will find the vast ruins of the Punic settlement of Tharros. Many people are convinced that this settlement is the lost city of Atlantis. The shoreline and its hills are dotted with genuine and traditional villages.
